Here are some quilt preparation tips that will help ensure a quality finished product...
Quilt Top
Square and press blocks as you piece to ensure a square top
Trim all threads so they don't show through light colored fabrics in the quilt top
Place a safety pin with a note on the top of quilt if it is directional
Stay stitch 1/4" away from edge of quilt top to keep it from stretching, especially if it is pieced or is flannel
Quilt Backing
Use a 3/8" seam instead of a 1/4" when piecing backing, and press open
Press all wrinkles
Backing should be 3-8" larger than the top on all 4 sides
Backing should be square on all 4 sides
Do not baste or pin your top, batting, or backing together
